A Review for the English Federation of Disability Sport
We are currently working with the English Federation of Disability Sport and the National Disability Sports Organisations to undertake a fundamental review of their roles, relationships and ways of working. Each organisation is committed to increasing participation by disabled people in sport and we are working closely with them to identify how they can work better together to achieve this goal.
Measuring Outcomes in Culture and Sport
We are now in the second stage of the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) project, on behalf of the National Cultural Project Board, to develop an outcomes framework for culture and sport. The first stage of the project involved researching outcomes frameworks in use across culture and sport and in other sectors including health and adult social care. The report is available on the IDeA web site. A draft outcomes framework to measure the contribution of culture and sport to seven outcomes: the economy, environment, children and young people, health and wellbeing, older people, safer communities and stronger communities is now being developed, with a consultation draft available soon.
England Hockey Board Masters Review
We have just started a new project with the England Hockey Board (EHB) to review Masters hockey, in particular looking at current provision, barriers to participation and future opportunities. As part of their drive to increase participation EHB are keen to hear from current and former players about their experiences of Masters hockey and how more people can be encouraged to play the game for longer. We will be developing an on-line questionnaire and running a series of consultation meetings to gather views, including one specifically looking at women's involvement in Masters hockey. We have also recently supported EHB with a funding application to Sport England's Active Women funding round and are awaiting the outcome.
Culture First is launched in the East of England
Culture First the culture and sport improvement network in the East region held its launch and first regional event in March 2010. Yew Consulting undertook the initial research and consultation with local authorities, professional associations and regional agencies in the region to identify a preferred structure, ways of working and priority work strands for the network, which helped form the basis of their successful bid for funding from the Regional Improvement and Efficiency Network. We also supported their very first event by providing a training day on 'Making Performance Management Work in Culture and Sport'.
NI11 National Programme of Support
In partnership with consultants AWA we are now entering our third year of providing the national programme of support for NI11 authorities on behalf of Arts Council England. This 3 year programme of support is targeted at local authorities who have selected National Indicator 11 - Engagement in the arts - as a designated or local indicator in their Local Area Agreement. The support being provided includes:
